Chapter 1: Love Triangle
And so it begins...
This is Riley, and this is the beginning of The Mars Family Legacy.
Riley has just moved into her first home, and it's terrible. However, no one said the path to fame and fortune would be easy. Yes, life costs, and this is where you start paying.
So to survive in the real world, or even the reality of the Sims, you need to have a job (unless you want to find yourself cold and hungry, crying on the floor surrounded by repo men...) Virtuoso's will head for the theatre of course, and that's exactly where Riley went. First job, 'Fan'. Pay- abysmal.
As Riley set about exploring the beautiful town of Sunset Valley she made sure to introduce herself to some of the locals, and her Good Sense of Humour won them over easily.
Then, tired from her day out, Riley returned home and went to bed. Hopeless Romantic by nature, she went to sleep gazing up at the stars and wondering who she'd meet tomorrow...
Day two and Riley set to work building her skills. A couple of notches up on the guitar skill-o-meter later and she was ready to venture into town, and ready to meet some men ; )
First attempt: stalking men in the gym. Verdict: unsuccessful. Riley needs to work on her pulling techniques it seems...
During a break from the man-hunt Riley struck up a conversation with another young adult, Bella Blue. They soon discovered they had things in common, such as being Party Animals and, over time, struck up a strong friendship.
The next day Riley asked Bella to move in, and she accepted.
Together the girls had enough money to build a house, of sorts. It's no Buckingham Palace but it's a start.
Besides, it looks reasonably cosy for a homely hovel. However, soon a few problems arose...
It turns out Bella can't cook for toffee. One day in the new house and already it was in danger of being burned to the ground. Oh dear. Luckily though someone came to their rescue, and he turned out to be a blessing in disguise...
Lamar the fireman came bursting through the door and immediately Riley's heart melted. She wasted no time in asking if he was single, and was overjoyed to hear that he was.
A few flirty interactions later and things were looking good...
Well, maybe not that good. But they do say the path to true love never runs smooth.
Bella on the other hand was having no such problems. She'd met a woman called Skye and was having no trouble wooing her with her Flirty nature.
Bella really liked Skye, so she had no idea why, at the moment when they shared their first kiss, Riley's face flashed through her mind...
The next few days in Sunset Valley passed pleasantly. Bella started work on her garden and got a job at the local spa.
Riley's guitar skill had improved sufficently, so much so that she was able to begin playing for tips in the park. The extra money certainly came in handy and soon the girls could afford a few luxuries to improve their comfort of living.
Later that day Lamar came round. Turns out he wasn't half the man Riley thought he was...
Still, their romantic flirtation continued and eventually they shared their first, rather unconventional, kiss.
Lamar even agreed to be her boyfriend.
Things were going well for Bella too. She'd gone over to Skye's house for a visit and, after the intial shock of seeing that she had kids, their romance continued. Bella asked if she could stay the night and Skye agreed. Later on, things heated up...
But, as can happen all too often, things can seem so different in the harsh light of day. Soon Bella realised that maybe dating a woman with kids wasn't such a great idea.
She wasted no time moving on, but still at the back of her mind Bella knew that something was missing.
As the evening rolled on Bella returned home to hang out with Riley. They enjoyed a typical girly night in; watching movies, drinking, and eating some snacks.
The conversation flowed easily, and so did the drinks...
...and Bella saw an opportunity to do something she had been aching for since the very first day she met Riley.
She smiled and looked deep into Riley's eyes as she slowly leaned in...
...until their lips touched in a sweet and tender kiss.
The bliss didn't last for long though. Riley gave herself a mental shake when she realised what she had been doing, and tried to push Bella away.
Bella was crushed, hurting from the burning rejection as Riley refused to look at her. Eventually she did the only thing she felt able to do, and left.
Now Riley is left with a dilemma. Should she continue with her relationship with Lamar, or give into carnal temptation and pursue Bella? Find out in the next chapter of The Mars Family Legacy, coming soon.

Chapter 2: About Last Night
The next morning Bella woke early and headed out of the house immediately. She was keen to avoid Riley after their kiss last night- not because she didn't want to talk about it but because she was afraid of what Riley might say.
As Riley blinked the last remnants of sleep from her tired eyes she too felt afraid. The memories of last night flooded her consiousness and she just didn't know what to do. One thing she was sure of though was that she needed to talk to Lamar.
Meanwhile, Bella watched the sunrise from the beach and just hoped this new day would bring happiness to her turbulent heart.
Riley met Lamar at a mutual friends house where he continued with his invisible man act. She didn't tell him about what had happened, but just seeing him made things a little clearer in her mind. After a brief conversation she returned home.
Later that day Bella was busy working on her garden when who should show up but Lamar.
Bella was less than enthused to see him... Just his presence reminded her of everything she stood to lose.
She was even less impressed when he started flirting with Riley. She had no right to be mad of course; they were a couple after all, but it's never easy to see someone you care about with someone else.
In the end Bella headed to the beach again to get away from it all.
Meanwhile, back at the house, Lamar moved in on Riley... She didn't even try to resist.
And, after a quick re-model of the house, there was even a bedroom for the lovers to retire to...
Things progressed rather passionately from there...
As she suggested taking their relationship to the next step a twinge of guilt did hit Riley, but as Lamar smiled at her and she knew she was doing the right thing. All that was left to do now was to tell Bella the news.
When Bella returned home that evening Riley asked her if they could talk. Bella could feel her heart start to beat faster as Riley began to speak. She ached to just kiss her but, with some effort, managed to remain mute.
Bella felt her heart drop into the pit of her stomach as Riley uttered the fatal words: "It was a mistake." All reason and logic left Bella's senses and she yelled at Riley. She just wanted her to understand.
It was no use though. Bella just had to accept that Riley had made her choice, and it wasn't her.
The hurt and shock mixed with the overwhelming anger that burned inside her. Bella knew that she could no longer remain living with Riley. It would be too painful.
So, with some regret, she rang for a taxi.
And, with one last look at Riley, Bella left.
Over the next few days Riley put all her efforts into her relationship with Lamar.
She asked him to move in, and he accepted.
Immediately he went to the dresser so he could make himself a new outfit (not to mention a complete body.)
And, after a quick trip to the police station, Lamar was employed in the Law Enforcement career.
He soon got to work building up his skills and meeting people in the neighbourhood.
In the meantime, Riley's guitar skills were going from strength to strength. She had moved up to level 4 in the music career and was making almost a thousand simoleans in tips a day.
Occasionally she would look at the garden Bella had made as it slowly began to rot. It made her feel sad but ultimately gave her resolution in life. She tore it down.
Then, when Lamar returned home from work, she asked him a very important question...
Lamar was shocked and suprised as Riley presented him with a beautiful ring.
And, of course, he said yes.
So we leave Riley and Lamar as they begin to plan the rest of their lives together. Find out how they get on in the next chapter of The Mars Family Legacy, coming soon.
