Chapter 27: Three of a Kind

On our last visit to the Mars household we learned that Noah and Adelaide were expecting a new addition to the family. Blissful in their relationship, a baby seemed like the perfect next-step in their life together.



Whilst she enjoyed her matenity leave, Adelaide put her skills to good use in maintaining the family garden.



She also bought some books on parenthood so that she could prepare for the impending birth. Her own mother had made so many mistakes in raising her; Adelaide did not want history to repeat itself now.



Noah continued to bring in money through his part-time job at the bookstore. In addition he mastered the handiness skill and upgraded every possible item in the house.



And of course with Noah and Adelaide at home most of the time they were able to... yanno, as much as they liked ; )

If they were real people they'd so be rowing by now...



As the couple lived next to the town waterfall it became their frequent hang-out. Being outside reminded them of the old rundown park they had used to live in, and the happy times they had shared there in spite of their penniless existence.



Before long Adelaide went into labour.



Noah was by her side of course, ready to scream his new child into the world...



Sparkle time and...



It's a boy!

His name is Eden, and he was born with the Excitable and Genius traits.



With his parents at home nearly all the time, Eden was of course well cared for.



I'll be honest- babies are boring; the little pixels just lie there and cry occasionally. Consequently, there aren't many pictures of this time. So let's move on...



Eden's birthday.



I'm predicting cute kids for Noah and Adelaide, but just how cute remains to be seen...



Ooh, how lovely : ) Eden definitely takes after his mom- in fact he looks just like her brother Laurent did at this age.



As parents, Noah and Adelaide were perfect. Eden was always in their thoughts and spending time with him made them happy. In fact, they were so content with their little family unit that they decided that would be it. As a trio they were complete, and there would be no more kids.



Now I know what you're thinking- I thought this was a matriarchy they need to have a girl right? Well actually that's not true. The only reason it was all girls in the past was because:
a) I always had more custom content for girls
2) the males in the family tended to turn out kind of fugly...



We came pretty close to having a male heir in gen. 5 with Camden, but Dahlia just pipped it.

So yeah, this is your heir. I hope you likes him ; )
(God I hope he stays this adorable...)



Well, how could you not love that face? : D

Ahem, as the days passed Noah taught Eden to talk.



And Adelaide taught him to walk.



She was also able to return to work as her maternity leave ended, and she reached level 4 in the science field. Tis pretty slow-going on the career front, due in part to the fact that Ad is a technophobe and thus it's hard to find ways to keep her fun bar up, meaning she can't 'work hard' for long. Grr.



This all meant that the family didn't have much money. Adelaide's entire inheritance had been spent on the house, and she also had a habit of donating money to charity quite frequently. Still, they had enough to pay the bills and could afford the occasional little luxury. Plus they were happy, and isn't that the most important thing?



Before long it was time for Adelaide's birthday, and her transition into an Adult. Besides a few wrinkles it didn't mean much at all.



Noah also aged on that same day.



And the following night it was little Eden's turn to grow up.



That's quite a handsome child... Okay that sounded wrong.

Eden gained the Over-Emotional trait... hmm.



As he was a Genius, Eden immediately put his brain to good use as he pursued the logic skill.



And, of course, his relationship with his parents remained as close as ever.



The three of them spent a great deal of time together, whether it be hanging out at home or enjoying family days out.



Eden was very lucky to have such doting parents and he knew it.



On one of their outings, the trio took a trip to the local art gallery where they discovered it had undergone a drastic fluro-nightmare 'makeover'...



I know, it's weird right?



So yeah, the family were very happy. I feel I must apologise though- with such a cohesive household there's not really a whole lot going on. I hate the kids growing up stage as it just feels like filler until they're old enough to begin their own drama. Ho well...



Although, amongst all the harmony one thing did happen...



They were burgled!
I think this is the first burglar in the history of the Mars family : o
Maybe the recession is hitting the criminals too?



Sadly for Mr Stripey here there wasn't going to be any let-up in the hard times. I had dutifully remembered to install an alarm system, so the family's goods were well protected.



Noah and Eden arrived just in time to see the policeman arrive and embrace the thief... Shouldn't you be hitting him not hugging him?



Yeah, that's more like it.



They fight like a bunch of sissy girls...



In the end, good prevailed and the burglar was arrested. Peace was restored to the Mars house.



Sim days pass so quickly, and it was soon time for Eden's birthday.



Noah and Adelaide were on-hand with the party horns and swizzle-sticks.

Man I really need to get this boy some friends- spending so much time with the parentals cannot be healthy...



Oh, you turn away for one minute and the boy disappears, replaced by a lovely looking man...
Ahem right. Eden gained the Athletic trait! Good for him.

*swoon*



So now Eden is a teenager with a life full of.. who knows what in front of him. What will his adolescence be like? Will Noah and Adelaide ever do anything interesting? (No offence guys... boring sods).
