Chapter 16: What A Ghost Wants
There are so many words that could be said at this time, but Mayana didn't need any. She slid her hand into Christian's, felt the trembling fingers lock together, and smiled.
Raising her lips to his ear Mayana just whispered one thing, and the word she breathed made Christian go weak at the knees.
"Upstairs".
Christian hadn't left the basement in the many years since he had died, so leaving that dark place for the first time was like being born again. There was just one problem...
Unfortunately Christian was a coward, and the sight of so many ghosts wandering around upstairs made Christian go weak at the knees in an altogether more unpleasant way. By the time he came around it was verging on daylight, and Christian barely had time to say goodbye before he disappeared. Mayana had no choice now but to continue with her life, and wait for night.
By now the family had saved up enough money to add an upstairs floor to their house. It's still under construction at present, but at least the twins now have their own rooms.
Mayana got a job a the local Bistro and continued to improve her cooking skill and learn new recipes.
Sydney joined the Criminal career and began to gain some athletic skill.
And as usual she spent her nights hacking.
Now that her boyfriend Danny had also grown up she invited him over to the house.
The couple remained as amorous as they had been as teenagers.
Although obviously there were more things they could do now... ; )
Mayana on the other hand was still waiting for her first kiss. She moved Christian's urn into her bedroom so she could be nearby when he appeared.
Each night she would sit with a book and try to read. Her mind wandered often, distracting thoughts flitting across her consciousness as she waited desperately. She tried to be patient.
Soon enough Christian arrived, and Mayana had never doubted him. She stood in front of him trying to breathe; pleading with herself to just stay together for one moment. She had only recently grown up into a Young Adult but she still felt so vulnerable- nothing more than a thin strip of skin with a smile painted on.
And just when she thought she might faint from the tension, Christian reached out to her. He wrapped his arms tightly around her as Mayana sank into his embrace.
After that they talked for a while; sharing secrets in the moonlight. Mayana wanted to know everything about Christian but, at the same time, she wished they wouldn't speak at all.
Soon she got her wish.
After a short while Mayana felt the sky begin to lighten, so she quickly asked Christian to be her boyfriend, fearful of the limited time they may have left.
And after that they slid between the sheets together, content and consumed by each other as the sun began to rise.
Mayana had barely closed her eyes before the daylight invaded their privacy and took Christian away from her.
In the morning she woke up alone. Sad, but happy. Excited, but afraid.
The next day could have been so dark for her because, even though Mayana was used to being without Christian, she still ached for him every second. And then she got a phone call, one that had the potential to change everything in her life. Something about the laboratory. Something about resurrection.
As Mayana walked into the science lab she began to hope with all of her heart. Not so long ago she didn't even believe in ghosts, and now she was fighting desperately to believe that they could be brought back to life. It didn't work of course, but now Christian could be a member of the active household. He would be there all the time, and Mayana would be able to see him in the daylight.
That night Mayana found it difficult to even attempt sleep. She was so afraid that she would close her eyes only to open them again and find Christian gone.
But eventually she couldn't hold out any longer. Exhausted, Mayana crawled into bed with her dead lover and gradually slipped into a deep, blissful sleep.
The following morning Christian decided to introduce himself to Sydney. He was a Family Oriented Sim and wanted to feel included in the family, so befriending his girlfriend's sister was a good place to start.
He wanted to earn some money but wasn't alltogether comfortable with the outside world just yet, so instead Christian put his Artistic nature to good use and took up painting.
Even though he was still dead, somehow Christian felt more alive than ever. He didn't want to waste a second of his time so he began to plan his future with Mayana. It all started with a trip to the waterfall.
When they reached the destination Christian took a deep breath.
Do ghosts need oxygen? Hmm, anyways...
As he knelt down on the ground Christian pulled out a ring. He didn't even need to say that they were meant to be together; that he wanted nothing else but her. Mayana already knew.
She said yes, of course : )
When Mayana returned home and told Sydney the news her sister couldn't have been happier for her. It seemed both their love lives were running smoothly. After all, Danny and Sydney were now closer than ever and spent every day together.
They still remained passionate as usual, but you know often all this heat can only lead to one thing...
Pregnancy.
Luckily Danny was very excited about the news and he promised that he would be there to take care of Sydney and the baby.
The next day was set for Mayana and Christian's wedding.
That morning the bride woke up bright and early, put on her wedding dress, and set about making herself look beautiful.
The couple had only wanted a small wedding so they hired out the beach and sent out invitations to their close family and friends.
When everyone was in place the ceremony began. Mayana and Christian said their vows, promised to be together forever, and exchanged rings. It seemed so suprising to them that they had ended up here after all they had been through, but Mayana and Christian knew that some things were just meant to be.
Soon they were Husband and Wife, and the proceedings were sealed with a kiss.
The couple stayed on the beach long into the night, even after all the guests had gone home. They were so perfectly content; so filled with peace and serenity that there was nothing else for them to do but be together.
When they eventually returned home the couple celebrated their wedding night, intimately...
Elsewhere in the house Sydney went into labour. She immediately called Danny and asked him to take her to the hospital.
A few hours later and the couple returned with a little girl- Persephone.
(It's pronounced Per-sef-oh-nee, in case you were wondering).
Now that their child had arrived Sydney asked Danny to move in with her, and he agreed.
Danny wanted to provide for his little family so he got a job in the Medical profession and worked on gaining some logic skill.
The next day Mayana discovered she was pregnant. She and Christian had both agreed that they wanted to start a family as soon as possible, so discovering this news was a pure joy to them.
The couple made sure they read a number of pregnancy books so they would be well prepared for the birth.
And Christian even began to paint a portrait of his wife to mark the occasion : )
His painting skill had improved greatly by now which meant he was able to contribute a good amount of money to the household.
Mayana's pregnancy passed comfortably enough, and when she went into labour she stayed at home with Christian by her side.
Soon the sparkles hit and it was a...
Girl! This is Alyssa, a ghost baby : D
Will Mayana and Christian make good parents? Can they keep their relationship as strong as it is now? And what will happen in Sydney's life? Find out in the next chapter of The Mars Family Legacy, coming soon.
