Chapter 28: Please Forgive Me

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
When last we visited the Mars household Eden had just grown up into a rather delectable young man...
Now I know he's just pixels and that, but still... mmm.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As a teenager, Eden had gained the Athletic trait and therefore soon spent a lot of time working out.
Meanwhile, I stalked him with my camera...
Can you blame me? He's so pretty.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Well, most of the time...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Ahh, how cute.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Er, I think I've crossed some sort of line now...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Elsewhere in the household, Adelaide was working hard at advancing in the science career. She had most of the required skills down by now, and had bonded well with her coworkers.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Little point of interest here- the female coworker is actually Adelaide's half-sister : o
Apparently Trent and his wife went on to have six more kids after he left Dahlia. SIX! That's a lot of six, I mean sex, I mean woohoo...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
But for all the joy in her life, Adelaide had these little moments of melancholy... It started off with a shiver- just a brief sensation that unsettled her, and it wasn't a surprise. After all, when you've been with someone for so long it's only natural to grow complacent. Besides, how was Adelaide to know where this disatisfaction would lead her...?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
With matters on her mind Adelaide began to pick fights with Noah. In the past their relationship had been so happy; so harmonious, but maybe that was the problem.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
They'd known each other since they were teenagers and had never argued, not once. Adelaide had been happy, but now she was destroying it and she didn't know why.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Noah could only look on in confusion. Something was wrong with Adelaide and he didn't understand what it was. He just wanted her to be honest with him, like they always had been, but she couldn't speak. She couldn't explain it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And so she got angry. At Noah, at herself, at the whole situation- the discord of her own design.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Eden heard them yelling, though they tried to hide it. The thing that made him saddest of all was that there was nothing he could do to help. And so, he ran. The rhythm of his heart and the pounding of his feet on the pavement was enough to quiet his questions, for now.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As time went on the family saved up enough money and I was able to transform Eden's room into a more grown-up design.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Eden himself either spent his time in there working out or studying at the chessboard. As a Genius he had a natural aptitude for logic and so was able to reach level 6 in the skill quite quickly.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
His keen intellect became very useful in helping him bond with the ladies... ; )

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
With Eden busy with friends and Noah working in the evenings, Adelaide found herself spending a lot of time alone. She didn't enjoy it- it reminded her of how her mother neglected her as a child and left her to her own devices.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And so, whenever Adelaide was by herself she would always invite someone over to keep her company. The 'someone' in question today was Daemon, a friend from work. Adelaide liked having him around as he made her laugh and kept her mind off her problems.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Perhaps a little too much...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Later that night when Daemon was gone and Noah was home, Adelaide began to think clearly. She had always despised her mother's selfish ways, but in that moment she realised that maybe everyone was capable of such blinkered narcissism. After all, we all make mistakes.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And that's exactly what it was really- a mistake. She knew that she loved Noah; she had just been scared, stupid, reckless. She needed to tell him the truth, both to remain honest in their relationship and because she knew that the guilt would kill her if she kept quiet.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Before long there was devastation. Noah was hurt that she would do this to him; the pain being all the more bitter because he still didn't know why. Most of all though he was angry. Hot-headed Sims will always play the blame game...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Adelaide pleaded with him- told him that she loved him, told him that it had only happened once, but it was no good. Noah's fury burned away his sense of reason and just left him with the rage and the bile.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
She just wanted him to hold her, to tell her that everything was going to be okay; that they were going to be okay. But he couldn't- he didn't know.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Adelaide could only wait for Noah to either forgive her or finish with her, and that would be the worst part- the waiting.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
From then on Adelaide slept in the spare room. In truth it seemed more like her prison cell- the dungeon of despair she had built for herself; a place where she was now sentenced to reside, indefinitely.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Outside the gloom of Noah and Adelaide, Eden's life was progressing nicely. He had built up a friendship with a girl from his school called Lindsay.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Of course they did a bit of kissing : p

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
But Eden was a popular lad and had more than one 'friend'...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Quite a few actually...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I don't blame you love, I'd be swooning too.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Meanwhile, Noah and Adelaide continued to play the game of courtesy and ellusion. There was no yelling; no arguments, instead the couple just became, well, separate. Avoidance was key. Run away from the problems...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
They decided not to tell Eden about how bad things had got between them. Of course he knew something was wrong. His parents' life, once so happy, now suffered in shadow. He didn't know exactly what had caused the darkness, he only hoped it would lift soon.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Only when he was out of the house did Noah give himself time to think. There was only so long he could play pretend, acting like nothing was wrong and he was fine with the distance between him and Adelaide. Pretense can only get you so far, and inside Noah mourned the death of his relationship. But was there a chance of resurrection?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Adelaide certainly liked to think so. She wasn't about to give up on her husband of so many years, and so she talked- hoping that in time he would soften, perhaps show mercy.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
There was no way of knowing if it was working though. Adelaide tried her best to explain herself but Noah remained mute- his feelings locked up; his pride holding the key.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As the days passed Adelaide tried to focus her attention on her career. In time she reached level 9 in the profession and completed her lifetime wish, but the achievement didn't make her any happier. The money meant little, and she donated most of it to charity.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Eden meanwhile was also trying to distract himself. With all his efforts placed on his schoolwork he maintained excellent grades, and even got on the honor role. His parents' troubles still vexed him, but little did he know what would happen next...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It was a morning like any other the day things changed. Adelaide was tending to her garden, and Noah was watching her. In that instant he came to a decision, the time for action was now- he needed to tell Adelaide what he wanted to do about their relationship.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
But words couldn't say it as well as this.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
There was to be no quick fix- it would take time, trust would have to be built again.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Adelaide was just happy that Noah was willing to try.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
With his parents' back on track, Eden found time to relax again. He had a number of girls chasing after him, but his favourite was Lindsay. She was his best friend more than anything.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
They just happened to make out from time to time : p

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Eden even helped her work out.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Poor girl...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
With the household based in harmony once more, the family gathered to celebrate their birthdays.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Adelaide was up first.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Followed by a terrified looking Noah.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As you can see they aged extremely well.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Finally it was time for the lovely Eden to age.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Delicious as always- even the Marilyn Monroe picture in the background is giving him the eyes.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
So now Eden is a young adult, and a Hopeless Romantic one at that. Of all the girls wanting a piece of this man-candy, which one will he choose? Find out in the next chapter of The Mars Family Legacy, coming soon.
